How do I list my garage on the AA Garage Guide?
The AA Garage Guide lists the most reputable UK garages. We are committed to promoting the best operators who maintain high standards and are affiliated to to recognised industry schemes and codes of practice. How does The AA Garage Guide work?
Our Garage Guide connects you with local motorists in need of MOTs, Servicing and repairs. We remind 250,000 AA Members each month that their MOT is due!
- Register your interest to be listed. Subject to meeting our criteria, your listing will then be live on the site
- Complete your profile and detail any special offers you want to promote
- Receive booking requests from local motorists
- Accept the booking and complete the work
- Once the work has been completed, confirm it took place (a 'digital stamp' as we call it)
- Receive a real review from that customer, to build your online reputation
- Become that customer’s preferred garage in their AA Automyze account to increase future booking potential

Does listing on the AA Garage Guide mean I am ‘AA Approved’?
Listing your business on the our Garage Guide does not allow you to use the term ‘AA Approved’ or use any physical AA branding at your garage unless under an authorized license.
How can I review the value of the business the AA Garage Guide has generated?
You can review and analyse the value we have generated for you via your Dashboard including key statistics related to customer bookings and quote requests, profile views and data analytics. How does customer the rating and review system work?
The Garage Guide provides our active garages with customer reviews following a booking. Our aim is to provide you with a traceable, valuable review from each and every booking. Our customers are motivated to leave a review for you because following submission of their review, our system adds the work you have completed to their AA account – which helps them keep track of their vehicle’s service history in one online place. How this works: Our review system removes the risk of receiving false reviews by ensuring that only our motorists who have actually booked in and visited your garage can then leave a review. They are obliged to review your garage in order to receive the digital verification of work to their AA account. It works like this:
- Once you have completed the work to the vehicle, you will confirm the work via your Garage Guide dashboard
- We hold onto this entry until the customer has rated and reviewed their experience at your garage
- Once they have left their review, we credit the work completed into their AA account
What if I receive a negative review from a customer?
Receiving a less-than-favourable review does not mean disaster. In most cases, the issue can be worked out and you have the opportunity to turn the potential negative into a real positive. Any reviews that are submitted which are 3/5 or lower, will be flagged to us and we will not publish this until you have had a chance to respond and address any issue that may need resolving. If a customer submits a negative review of your business after booking at your garage, we will contact them to understand their experience and concern in more detail and then discuss the findings with you. This will give you the opportunity to respond and address any issues raised, and hopefully rectify the problem to a mutually satisfactory outcome.
How do I follow-up with a customer when advisory work is due?
Our system automatically reminds customers when advisories become due, prompting them to return to your garage to get the work done. How this works: When you confirm completed work to a customer's account, you are also prompted to detail any advisory work including date(s) that it will approximately be due. Closer to the time, we will notify you so you can provide a quote to undertake the work. We will then send a reminder to that motorist with your quote included, and if they are happy with the price, they can simply click the link in the email to book back at your garage via our site.
Do we have to confirm any previous work undertaken for a customer?
A customer may send you a request to confirm previous service history or work you undertook on their vehicle. These requests will show as alerts in your Dashboard as 'Customer Validation Requests' We recommend that you do confirm this work as it benefits both the customer and you. Here's how: Before the past work is credited in the motorist's account, they are required to review your business. Meaning you will receive a rating from that customer so you can build up your reputation, plus you will feature in that customer's AA Automyze account so they will be more likely to re-book with you in future.
Does the AA Garage Guide showcase the industry schemes I am affiliated to?
One of the founding principles of the AA Garage Guide is to champion the best UK garages and dealers. Businesses that are affiliated to Motor Codes, or TSI endorsed codes, and employ IMI professionally trained technicians will stand out to customers for having the highest standards and industry recognised accreditations. The schemes you are part of will be shown within the search results and on your garage profile page. Customers are able filter their search results to show only garages who are affiliated to schemes if they choose to, so we recommend making sure your profile reflects any accreditations you have or schemes you are part of.
Why is my garage listed on the AA Garage Guide when I haven't signed up?
We list garages on the website that are not yet active to give our motorists the facility to recommend that garage to us. Many motorists have their favourite garage and like to make helpful recommendations, so we have a feature that allows customers to nominate their favourite garage so we can then invite them to join.
How will I receive customer booking requests?
When a customer wants to book in at you garage via our website, we will immediately send you an email (and SMS notification if you provide your mobile number). The email will contain the details of the booking request so you can login to your Garage Guide account and accept the booking. We then provide the customer's full details so you can contact them directly to confirm the final arrangements. Digital Stamp gets you a rating and review: By accepting the customer's booking you are agreeing to confirm the work you complete to their vehicle to their AA Automyze account - we call it a 'digital stamp'. This unique customer benefit is a key reason why they have chosen to book you via the AA Garage Guide, so it is very important this process is fulfilled. In return for confirming the work (digital stamp) you will receive a rating and review from the customer.
Will The AA inspect my garage?
The AA will not inspect your garage as a prerequisite to being listed on the AA Garage Guide website. However, to ensure we only list reputable businesses, we perform a variety of business checks in order to verify your company before we activate your listing on our website. The AA carries out inspections at garages on behalf of Motor Codes. This is not related.
How much does it cost to be listed on the AA Garage Guide?
We do not charge a monthly subscription or listing fee to be listed on the site. We charge a flat administration fee per booking for MOT; and for Service, maintenance and repair work. This fee is charged at the point of accepting the booking request so you are only charged for bookings you choose to accept. If you would like to discuss the details of the charges, please contact us and one of our account managers will be very happy to speak with you.
How do I add a special offer to promote to potential customers?
Within your garage Dashboard, you can go to the 'Deals' tab and add a special offer by detailing the terms of the offer. When the offer is live, it will be promoted to relevant local motorists in the following places within the website:
- The offer will show on the garage search page under your specific listing
- The offer will show on your garage profile page
- The offer will be added to local motorist's 'Offers' section within their AA Automyze account
- The offer will be added to reminder emails to local motorists when relevant to what is due on their vehicle - for example if you are offering a fixed-price servicing offer, we will include that within email reminders to local motorists who have a service due.
Why should I confirm (digitally stamp) the work completed on a vehicle?
There are several benefits to confirming the work you have undertaken (or adding a 'digital stamp' as we call it) to a customer's AA Automyze account: Before the confirmed work is credited to a motorist’s AA Automyze account, the customer is obliged to rate and review their experience of your garage. If they don't submit and rating and review, we don't add the digital stamp to their account. This mutually incentivized process means you will receive genuine, traceable and valuable feedback that you can use for marketing your business and generate a positive reputation. In the unlikely event a customer isn’t happy with the service you provided, you can respond and use this as an opportunity to solve the problem and ensure the outcome is a positive one. The confirmation process is very simple and takes less than two minutes to complete. You will be doing something of real benefit to your customers – by digitally validating the work you’re helping them with their admin and management of their vehicle; and your business will appear in their account alongside their service history, which means they will be more likely to re-book at your garage when they have further servicing and repair work due in future.
New Tow-ins Network
How do I list my garage on the new tow-ins Network?
Our new tow-ins network will generate valuable business for you by connecting you with motorists when they require recovery to a local garage for further repairs. There are no subscription fees. Just a flat administration fee or a percentage of the total invoice value per booking, you decide which one you want to pay as each booking arises. How is our new tow-ins Network different to the existing ‘AA Select’ list of garages?
To improve the experience our Members have when we attend a breakdown, we have developed a new network of garages that are high quality and includes a balance of independent garages and franchised dealers - including those specifically recommended by our Patrols. Garages listed on both the Garage Guide and new tow-ins network meet our strict listing criteria - so both our Patrols and our Members can be confident in the quality of the work the garages will carry out. Importantly too, our list will show which garages offer out-of-hours and key drop service to help Patrols decide where is most efficient and suitable to tow the car to.
What happens if the Member declines the work after being towed to the garage?
After having been towed to your garage, if the Member decides not to proceed with the work being undertaken at your garage, our fixed admin fee will still apply.
Will I have to pay for an existing customer towed to my garage?
You won’t have to pay a fee for an existing customer, providing you can provide a previous invoice evidencing that the motorists was a pre-existing customer and has had work undertaken at your garage within 6 months of the tow-in occurring. This can be uploaded to our system as verification.
How much will it cost me?
There is no subscription fee for your garage to be listed on either the Garage Guide or our new tow-ins Network. All tow-in bookings incur an admin fee per booking which covers our operational costs. You can choose whether to pay a percentage of the final invoice value, or a fixed fee. In addition, you can benefit from your association with the AA brand with our new Premium AA Garage Pack which will give your garage additional AA branding and marketing benefits on top of the tow-ins work, for a fixed monthly fee.

What is the new tow-ins network?
Each year, we tow our Members to garages across the UK when it’s not possible to repair the vehicle at the roadside. To improve and enhance that experience for Members and the garages we work with, we are launching a new tow-ins network which Patrols and Members will use to select where to tow the car to.
